Born in Brighton in 1961, Trudie studied Fine Art Printmaking at the Brighton Polytechnic College of Art and Design, graduating in 1983. She then attained a post-graduate diploma in Education from The University of Middlesex. Mooney moved to Spain in 1985 and taught in various schools until 1992.
Trudie’s work draws influence from the still life paintings of Chardin and Morandi. As with Morandi, she focuses her attention on the composition and shapes in the painting, rather than the objects themselves. Mooneys work is characterised by smooth brushstrokes and a subtle, muted colour palette.
Her work is featured in The Office of Public Works Collection, and in numerous private collections.
