Midge was born in what was a fishing town on the coast of south east Scotland, and the landscape of her formative years exerts a strong influence on her present work.

She is a studio-based artist living in Bristol, UK where she completed a degree in Fine Art from the University of the West of England in 1994.

The paintings I make might be described as abstract, but representational elements are nearly always present. Landscape informs the work, but it is used only as a framework on which I engage with formal concerns and expression.
