Born in 1963, Melissa trained at the University of the West of England,
Bristol graduating with BA (hons) Ceramics in 2000.
Melissa’s work
carries references to a wide array of sources. Inspiration for the latest
body of work comes from Romanesque stone carving, medieval stained glass
contemporary body art.
Melissa translates and screen-prints her visual material
onto sheets of soft clay, using these fractured body parts to construct
her figures. She often combines this with a painterly use of slips and
glazes. Her work conveys the fragility of the
human form.
