Born in 1934 in Almonsbury, Barrington has lived in and around Bristol all his life. Forced to leave school early to help support his family when his father fell ill, he worked as an engineering inspector for most of his working life.
Entirely self taught after a short taste of art school, Barrington has painted prolifically. His great interest in the French Impressionists and respect for the primitive painters is apparent in his highly individual and personal paintings of docks, streets, pubs and parks of Bristol and its surrounding countryside. His love of painting Bristol gave him the name of “Bristol’s Painter”.
Barrington has exhibited widely, and is a member of the RWA. He is married with two daughters and three grandsons – but his greatest love is painting, and for which he lives.
